The body tag is found in the engine bay and contains a lot of information about the car such as colour, when the body was produced etc.

Let's start decoding the body tag.


10B - That number (top left corner)  indicates that the body was build in the second week of October (A - First week, B - Second week, C- Third week etc). Usually the engine is build in the previous month (in this case september) or at the latest in the first week of October.


Style 64 - 0667  - That indicates that the corvair was build in 1964 (64-), Spyder Model (06), Convertible (67)

Body WR - 1259 - That indicates that the car was build at the Willow Run assembly plant (WR) and assigned the sequential body number 1259, which means she was the 1259th Corvair built at Willow Run for ’65.

A = Direct Air heater (Always listed 1st and listed on every WR car in survey)
D = Spyder
E = Bucket seats on 4 door models
H = Padded dash
N = Powertop
K = Tinted Glass (all windows)
J = Tinted Windshield?
L = Convertible top code followed by a number indicating color.
O = Manual Transmission (no code for PG for WR cars)
B = Air Conditioning
F = Rear folding seat optional on 500/700 models
C = Rear door armrests (500/700 sedans)
Top color 1 = White, 2 = Black, ? = Blue, 4 = Cream (Blue is probably coded 3)
